Dedicated Navy Advocates Building Community and Crew Connections

We are a passionate collective of volunteers committed to supporting Navy service through education and community engagement. Our organization focuses on sharing knowledge about the USS Pittsburgh Amphibious Assault Ship LPD 31, which will complete construction within the next three years. Through our dedicated efforts, we aim to build awareness and foster understanding about this remarkable vessel that will serve our nation.

This is the fifth USS Pittsburgh Navy ship

USS Pittsburgh (1861) – City class ironclad gunboat (spelled “Pittsburg in period records”), that fought on the Western rivers in the American Civil War.

USS Pittsburgh (CA-4) – Armored cruiser originally USS Pennsylvania (ACR-4), renamed in 1912, operated in World War 1 and interwar service.

USS Pittsburgh (CA-72) – Baltimore class cruiser commissioned in 1944, saw extensive WW2 service and famously survived losing her bow in a 1945 typhoon.

USS Pittsburgh (SSN-720) – Los Ángeles nuclear fast attack submarine, served in multiple deployments before being decommissioned in 2020.

USS Pittsburgh (LPD-31) – San Antonio class amphibious transport dock, the newest namesake and fifth ship named after Pittsburgh.
